Investment Support Officer

About the role

The Investment Support Officer will provide analytical and technical assistance to governments and partners in West and Central Africa, helping to design, appraise and implement investment and finance initiatives that strengthen agrifood systems. Based in Abidjan, the role works closely with the FAO Representative in Côte d’Ivoire and the Chief of the West and Central Africa Service.

Key responsibilities

• Support multidisciplinary teams in identifying and preparing investment projects in food security, agriculture, rural development and natural resource management.
• Participate in pre‑appraisal and appraisal missions, delivering technical expertise for project formulation, implementation and evaluation.
• Collaborate with country stakeholders, financing institutions and private sector partners to develop sustainable investment solutions.
• Contribute to capacity‑building activities and knowledge sharing on investment planning and innovative finance.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in agriculture, economics, finance, natural resource management or related fields.
• Experience working with government agencies, international organisations or development partners in the agrifood sector.
• Strong analytical abilities and understanding of investment policy, strategic planning and project appraisal.
• Excellent communication skills in English; French is an asset.
