Finance Associate

About the role

The Finance Associate provides technical and specialized finance tasks, ensuring accurate, timely delivery and compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations. The role requires research, adaptation to irregular cases and recommendations for process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on report preparation, data compilation and query resolution related to pledges, funds received and budget adjustments.
• Act as the local finance focal point, verify invoices and submit accurate data to the Global Service Centre.
• Maintain financial records, reconcile expenditures, payments and statements for day‑to‑day transactions.
• Process VAT exemption requests, follow up with suppliers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and report progress monthly.
• Close year‑end accounts and assist in preparing year‑end reports for receivables, payables, pre‑payments and other balances.
• Maintain liaison with local banks, obtain exchange rates, and perform regular bank reconciliations.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and participate in budget analysis and projects.

Required profile

• Completion of secondary education (BAC) required.
• Minimum six years of clerical experience in finance and accounting.
• Fluency in French; knowledge of English is an asset.
• Previous UN or country‑level experience in development, fragile or humanitarian settings is desirable.
