Compensation & Benefits Expert – Africa Region

About the role

The Regional Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Expert will support the Africa Regional Office of a global shipping group. Reporting to the Regional HR Director and functionally to the Division’s C&B Manager, the role ensures the Group’s C&B policies are applied consistently across the region while providing strategic advice to operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain external competitiveness and internal equity of compensation structures through market analysis and monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with the Regional HR Director to align C&B initiatives with the regional HR strategy.
• Advise operational teams on compensation, allocation, and benefits adjustments to meet regional and divisional needs.
• Manage renewal of health and provident insurance contracts for the region.
• Support budget preparation and the Group’s salary review process.
• Provide C&B guidance to stakeholders, ensuring local practices align with Group strategy and identifying risk mitigation solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits within a large international organization or consultancy.
• Strong financial and general HR knowledge.
• Advanced reporting skills, particularly with Qliksense and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with job evaluation and grading methodologies (e.g., WTW, Mercer, Korn Ferry) is preferred.
• Rigorous, methodical, and highly organized work approach.
• Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and communication skills in English and French.
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, or Business is desirable.
