Renewable Energy Engineer

About the role

Smart Solar Co is seeking a full‑time Renewable Energy Engineer to join its on‑site team in Abidjan. You will design, model, and optimise solar and broader renewable energy systems for commercial, industrial, and utility‑scale projects, contributing directly to the company’s sustainability mission.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical feasibility studies, energy yield calculations and site analyses.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
• Support project execution, commissioning and on‑site inspections.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, construction and project management teams.
• Ensure designs comply with safety, quality and regulatory standards.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and recommend efficiency improvements.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in solar and renewable energy systems, with knowledge of industry regulatory and economic frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Renewable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with solar EPC or renewable projects in the MENA or African region is a plus.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and industry standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and data‑analysis skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work primarily on‑site in Abidjan, including field visits.
