Compensation & Benefits Expert – Africa Region

About the role

As a key member of the Human Resources Department for the Africa Regional Office, you will coordinate, harmonise and implement the Group’s Compensation & Benefits (C&B) policy across the region. You will act as a strategic advisor to operational teams and support the Shipping Division’s C&B team with reporting and analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure external competitiveness and internal equity of C&B structures through market analysis and monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with the Regional HR Director to align C&B priorities with the regional HR strategy.
• Advise on compensation, allocation and benefit adjustments to meet regional and division needs.
• Manage renewal of health and provident insurance contracts for the region.
• Contribute to budget preparation and support the Group’s salary review process.
• Provide guidance to stakeholders, ensuring local practices align with Group strategy while identifying risks and proposing solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits within a large international group or specialised consultancy.
• Strong financial and general HR knowledge.
• Rigorous, methodical and highly organised approach.
• Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic and consensus‑building skills.
• Fluent in English and French, both written and verbal.
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Finance or Business (preferred).

Required skills

• Advanced reporting tools such as Qliksense.
• Expert‑level Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with job evaluation and grading methodologies (e.g., WTW, Mercer, Korn Ferry).
