Logistics Manager – Import & Warehouse Operations

About the role

The Logistics Manager will lead the end‑to‑end physical supply chain for a plastics‑focused international group. Reporting to the General Manager, the role covers import operations at Port d'Abidjan, bonded and open warehouse management, customs clearance, inland transport and last‑mile distribution across Côte d'Ivoire and ECOWAS corridors.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound polymer shipments (FCL/LCL containers and bulk bags) from origin to Port d'Abidjan.
• Manage relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders and clearing agents; negotiate freight rates and service terms.
• Oversee customs clearance procedures (DGD), including import declarations, HS‑code classification (Chapter 39), valuation and duty optimisation.
• Run bonded‑warehouse operations to defer duty payments and improve cash flow.
• Track shipments in transit, anticipate delays and communicate proactively with sales and procurement teams.
• Ensure all import documentation is complete and compliant (bill of lading, COA, packing list, phytosanitary and fumigation certificates, SGS inspection reports).
• Monitor port congestion, demurrage and detention exposure and take corrective actions to minimise costs.

Required profile

• Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Engineering or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in import logistics, freight forwarding or supply‑chain management in West Africa.
• Hands‑on experience with West African port operations, preferably Port d'Abidjan.
• Deep knowledge of Ivorian customs procedures (DGD), OHADA regulations and UEMOA trade rules.
• Experience handling bulk or bagged commodities such as polymers, chemicals, fertilisers or grains.
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Proficiency with logistics or ERP software, specifically SAP and Sage (or equivalent WMS platforms).
