Senior Associate – Certification Body Monitoring

About the role

The Rainforest Alliance is seeking a result‑oriented Senior Associate to lead its Certification Body (CB) Monitoring program across Africa. Reporting to the Assurance Program Manager, you will strengthen the organisation’s assurance system, ensure consistency and credibility of certification processes, and protect the integrity of its standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the Assurance Program Office (APO) monitoring framework.
• Plan, conduct and oversee CB Monitoring audits, including follow‑up activities.
• Lead a team of experienced auditors, ensuring consistent interpretation of procedures and normative documents across regions.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to translate field insights into enhancements of the Rainforest Alliance Standard and assurance system.
• Maintain calibration of auditing practices within the region and with other global teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in agronomic engineering, agronomy, environmental science, international development or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in auditing and certification systems, including at least three years with Rainforest Alliance certification.
• Fluent written and spoken English and French.
• Strong organisational abilities, attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel at least 30% of the time, primarily within the region.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17065 and ISO 19011 standards.
• Experience with document management and data analysis.
