Senior Officer, Audit & Certification Oversight

About the role

The Senior Officer, Audit & Certification Oversight strengthens Rainforest Alliance’s assurance system across Africa. Reporting to the Assurance Programme Manager, you will monitor certification bodies, ensure consistency and credibility of standards, and translate field insights into system improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, execute and continuously improve the Assurance Programme (APO) across the region.
• Conduct and manage Certification Body (CB) Monitoring audits and follow‑up activities.
• Lead a team of experienced auditors, ensuring calibration of audit procedures and interpretation of normative documents.
• Develop, implement and refine procedures, policies and rules as required.
• Support Rainforest Alliance’s strategy to enhance its assurance system and drive improvements to standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in agronomic engineering, agronomy, environmental science, international development or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in auditing and certification systems, including at least 3 years with Rainforest Alliance certification.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and French.
• Strong organisational abilities, attention to detail and capacity to travel at least 30 % of the time within the region.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17065 and ISO 19011 standards.
• Document management expertise.
• Data management and analysis experience.
