Administrative Support Intern – UNEP Abidjan

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated intern to provide day‑to‑day administrative and office support to the Secretariat of the Abidjan Convention. This six‑month internship will be based in Abidjan and will contribute to regional environmental cooperation on marine and coastal ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Handle incoming calls, visitors, and information requests, directing them as appropriate.
• Process administrative documents such as travel requests, purchase orders, contracts, and leave records.
• Log, review, record, distribute and file correspondence and other documents.
• Respond to routine inquiries and maintain accurate files and records, monitoring deadlines for timely responses.
• Organise meetings and events, including scheduling, logistics, and follow‑up.
• Provide secretarial, administrative and logistics support for staff meetings, retreats and internal gatherings.
• Maintain calendars and schedules, communicating changes to relevant staff.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant academic programme (e.g., public administration, environmental studies, business administration).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
• Interest in environmental issues and regional cooperation.
