Associate Programme Officer – Women Peace and Security (WPS)

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking an Associate Programme Officer to support Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and gender analysis across its programmes in West and Central Africa. Based in Abidjan, the incumbent will work under the Regional Representative and the Law Enforcement and Counter‑Terrorism Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing data‑collection tools, compiling survey responses and conducting basic analysis.
• Gather and review gender‑related data, especially in border areas, linking it to security, terrorism, extremism and trafficking.
• Monitor social, economic and political developments with a focus on gender trends affecting women and girls.
• Support programme assessments, stakeholder consultations and documentation of findings.
• Engage with civil‑society and women’s organisations and help build capacity for gender‑sensitive data collection.
• Organise workshops, seminars and training sessions, preparing materials and presentations.
• Integrate WPS considerations into programme activities through research and analytical support.
• Draft reports and background notes on gender dynamics for internal and external audiences.
• Coordinate with UNODC colleagues, partners and donors, including preparing donor reporting materials.

Required profile

• Demonstrated knowledge of basic concepts related to Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and gender analysis.
