Communication and Outreach Intern

About the role

The Communication and Outreach Intern will support the Secretariat of the Abidjan Convention in raising the visibility of its work, engaging stakeholders and sharing knowledge on marine and coastal environmental issues. Working under the supervision of the Head of the Secretariat, the intern will contribute to a range of communication activities across media and digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare communication materials such as press releases, web stories, newsletters and social‑media content that highlight the Convention’s work and its Contracting Parties.
• Assist in drafting speeches, briefing notes, talking points and background documents for senior officials participating in regional and international meetings on ocean governance, marine pollution, biodiversity and the blue economy.
• Maintain and update the Secretariat’s website and digital communication platforms to ensure timely visibility of initiatives, projects and conference decisions.
• Support the creation of communication products for major regional and global environmental events, for example World Ocean Day.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Interest in environmental and marine conservation topics.
• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate with a multicultural team.
