About the role

OMPLOU Côte d'Ivoire is expanding its industrial activities and seeks an experienced Laboratory Manager / Quality Control Manager to lead its laboratory operations. The role combines supervision of analytical work, quality assurance, and health‑safety compliance in a metal‑processing environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Organise and supervise daily laboratory activities.
  • Carry out and validate analyses and quality controls, especially for metals and alloys.
  • Oversee sample preparation and ensure proper calibration and monitoring of analytical equipment.
  • Manage standards, certified reference materials (CRM), reagents and consumables.
  • Perform wet‑chemistry analyses such as titration and assay, and prepare/standardise reagents and solutions.
  • Interpret results, prepare analysis reports and enforce HSE procedures, including safe handling of lead‑containing samples.
  • Supervise laboratory technicians and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s to Master’s degree (Bac+3 to Bac+5) in analytical chemistry, industrial chemistry, metallurgy, materials science, process engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an industrial laboratory, preferably in metallurgy, lead processing/recycling, battery recycling or foundry operations.
  • Proven experience in wet‑chemistry analysis, titration, reagent preparation, and laboratory quality control.
  • Familiarity with optical emission spectrometry (OES) and certified reference materials (CRM) is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in laboratory set‑up, SOP development, equipment commissioning, calibration and quality‑control system implementation.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with rigor and strong organisational skills.
