Local Unit Analyst Sr – Finance & Records

About the role

The Local Unit Supervisor supports the local unit manager by overseeing day-to-day financial and record-keeping operations in the assigned area. The role trains analysts and clerks on Church policies and procedures for finance and membership records, maintains internal controls and supports compliance and accurate reporting. It reports directly to the local unit manager and is a people-manager position covering analysts and clerks (possibly a mixed workforce).

Key responsibilities

• Supervise staff, coach them on Church policies and procedures, and recommend hiring, promotions, discipline or termination in partnership with HR.
• Train local unit leaders and clerks on financial principles and record-keeping, and help develop training materials.
• Run record-keeping and financial processes to Church headquarters standards, assist audits and resolve compliance issues.
• Analyze financial and membership data, prepare reports for the local unit manager and senior leadership, and support quarterly reports and membership audits.
• Improve processes, support internal control reviews and budgeting, and ensure data privacy compliance.
• Help locate members whose whereabouts are unknown, support boundary adjustments and leadership change proposals, and stay aligned with Church governance, policy and doctrine.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline.
• 3 years of professional experience in business, accounting or finance.
• Previous work-related leadership experience.
• Familiarity with Church governance, policy and doctrine, usually through ecclesiastical service.
• Preferred: English language proficiency.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the Church General Handbook and Church financial and record-keeping policies and tools.
• Strong computer application and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong analytical, planning and presentation skills, and excellent verbal and written communication.
