Machinist – Workshop (Cement Plant)

About the role

The Machinist will work in the workshop of a cement plant, machining, repairing, fabricating and refurbishing mechanical components to ensure equipment reliability and minimise downtime. The role requires strong precision, adherence to safety standards and close collaboration with the mechanical maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and specifications to plan manufacturing steps.
• Set up and operate workshop equipment such as lathe, milling, shaping, grinding, power hack saw and drilling machines.
• Measure, mark and cut raw materials, then inspect finished parts with calipers and micrometers to verify tolerances.
• Perform routine maintenance on workshop machinery, troubleshoot mechanical issues and keep the workshop clean and safe.
• Implement 5S methodology and follow HSSE policies.
• Coordinate with the Mechanical Maintenance team and Mechanical Planner.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BAC+5) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a machinist in cement plants, heavy industry, mining or manufacturing.
• Ability to work long shifts and stand for extended periods.

Required skills

• Operation of lathe, milling, shaping, grinding, power hack saw and drilling machines.
• Precision measurement using calipers and micrometers.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• 5S implementation and workshop safety practices.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS (maintenance management systems).
