Senior Accounts Associate

About the role

The Senior Accounts Associate will ensure the integrity, accuracy and statutory compliance of the company’s accounting records under SYSCOHADA, while managing tax and social security obligations. The role also leads internal control development and oversees the accounting team in a dynamic Oil & Gas environment.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, supervise and review journal entries, ledgers and reconciliations to guarantee compliance with the revised SYSCOHADA chart of accounts and OHADA principles.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including provisions, accruals and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and notes for management approval and external audit.
• Coordinate statutory audits with external auditors and support internal or group audit activities.
• Design, implement and monitor accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Supervise, train and evaluate the accounting team, ensuring segregation of duties and continuous professional development.
• Research complex accounting treatments under SYSCOHADA and advise management.
• Maintain accounting books, supporting vouchers and statutory registers in line with OHADA retention requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (mandatory) with at least 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a supervisory or chief accountant role, preferably in Oil & Gas.
• Fluency in French and proficiency in English.
• Strong knowledge of OHADA, IFRS, Ivorian tax law (CGI) and social regulations (CNPS/CMU).

• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as SAP or Sage (or equivalent).
• AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilote) for data analysis and automation.
