Senior Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Associate

About the role

The Senior Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Associate will support the implementation of the Leveraging Finance and Investments for a Green Transition (LIFT) programme across Africa. Reporting to the LIFT Programme Manager and the Regional MEL Senior Officer, the role is based at GGGI’s Africa Regional Office in Abidjan and ensures results are systematically monitored, measured, and used for adaptive management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and update the LIFT MEL plan, including data collection methods, reporting schedules and quality assurance procedures.
• Coordinate MEL activities across participating African countries to ensure consistent methodologies, indicators and high‑quality data.
• Support the design and execution of programme evaluations, including preparation of terms of reference, managing consultant contracts and disseminating findings.
• Consolidate programme data, maintain up‑to‑date results information in GGGI corporate systems and produce analytical briefs, dashboards and progress reports.
• Facilitate learning activities, document lessons learned and contribute to GGGI’s corporate MEL network.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, environmental management, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
• At least 5 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to monitoring, evaluation and learning.
• Proven track record of managing the full MEL cycle in an international, development‑focused context.
• Strong proficiency in English (additional language skills are a plus).
• Experience working with ministries of finance, financial institutions or climate‑finance programmes is desirable.
