Senior Recruiter, Expansion

About the role

Wave is expanding into new African markets and needs a senior recruiter who can deploy ahead of each launch, build talent maps from scratch, set compensation benchmarks, and own full‑cycle hiring for the first cohort of hires.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy to new markets roughly a month before launch and manage hiring on the ground during the critical early months.
• Build a talent map: identify local talent pools, understand compensation expectations, and determine which roles must be sourced internationally.
• Establish realistic salary benchmarks in markets with limited salary data and ensure offers are competitive.
• Own end‑to‑end recruitment for leadership and business‑critical positions, from sourcing to onboarding.
• Act as the interim People Operations function until a permanent People team is in place, handling onboarding, practicalities, and local compliance.
• Maintain Greenhouse data integrity to keep pipeline health visible across locations.

Required profile

• 6+ years of end‑to‑end recruitment experience, including at least 3 years in‑house recruiting in high‑growth African environments.
• Fluent in French and English, able to negotiate compensation and conduct interviews in both languages.
• Proven ability to recruit in markets where you start without an existing network, building talent maps from the ground up.
• Willingness and ability to live and work away from home for months at a time, repeatedly.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, earning credibility quickly with new country leadership.
