Chief Accountant – West & Central Africa (6‑month contract)

About the role

The Chief Accountant for West & Central Africa will join bioMérieux’s Finance, Procurement & Information Systems function on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. Based in Abidjan, the role is responsible for ensuring accurate, reliable and compliant accounting, tax and payroll operations across the region, in line with OHADA standards and group policies.

Key responsibilities

• Record all financial transactions and execute monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
• Prepare financial statements and perform balance‑sheet and P&L reconciliations according to OHADA standards.
• Review, validate and file tax returns (VAT, corporate income tax, business licence tax) and liaise with tax authorities.
• Oversee payroll accounting, social security contributions and statutory filings with CNPS and other bodies.
• Map and maintain SAP accounts to the OHADA chart of accounts, monitor ledger usage and correct posting errors.
• Support internal and external audits, prepare documentation and follow up on control recommendations.
• Provide variance analysis, budgeting support and ad‑hoc financial reporting for management.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification with several years of experience in general ledger, tax and payroll functions.
• Strong knowledge of OHADA accounting standards and local regulatory requirements in West & Central Africa.
• Proven ability to work with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
