Country Safety Manager

About the role

The Country Safety Manager will lead the implementation of ofi’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policies across all plant locations in the country. Reporting to the Regional/Global Head of Safety, the role ensures legal compliance, drives a zero‑incident safety culture and supports facilities that lack dedicated EHS resources.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and execute global and regional safety programs to achieve world‑class safety performance.
• Provide guidance on ofi safety standards and local safety laws, share best practices and ensure adherence.
• Coach, train and mentor facility safety professionals and leadership teams.
• Conduct regular site visits to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions and promote “walk‑the‑talk” safety leadership.
• Analyze safety performance data, incident trends and lead high‑quality investigations.
• Develop personal safety objectives for facility leaders and track progress against safety metrics.
• Establish and maintain cross‑auditing processes, prepare audit resources and follow up on gaps.
• Manage training programs to meet safety requirements and ensure compliance with country and local regulations.
• Draft safety manuals, design audit systems and advise project teams during greenfield/brownfield projects.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of national EHS laws and regulatory guidelines.
• Proven experience coordinating safety initiatives across multiple sites, especially where dedicated EHS staff are absent.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret leading and lagging safety indicators.
• Excellent communication and coaching abilities to influence senior leadership.
• Ability to travel regularly to facilities nationwide.
