Energy Economist

About the role

ProSidian Consulting seeks an Energy Economist to support a United States government agency project improving Côte d'Ivoire's electricity grid. The role involves technical assistance, research, modelling and analysis of smart‑grid and utility economics.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct analysis of the Ivorian electrical system and benchmark best practices for loss reduction.
• Develop and review linear programming models for least‑cost resource mixes, marginal cost of energy, and load forecasts.
• Prepare cost‑of‑capital assessments, financial models and implementation plans for loss‑reduction strategies.
• Provide short‑term technical assistance, capacity‑building training and produce final reports for the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy and CI‑ENERGIES.

Required profile

• Recent (within 5 years) experience in a comparable energy economics or utility planning role.
• Strong knowledge of econometric forecasting, capital budgeting and corporate finance.
• Ability to produce accurate, well‑documented work and meet project milestones.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with linear programming and electric utility planning models.
• Understanding of smart‑grid operations, electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
• Ability to analyse and interpret technical data, and present findings orally or in writing.
