Field HSE Specialist – Power Plant Assurance

About the role

The Field HSE Specialist will provide hands‑on health, safety and environment (HSE) assurance for the SOGEPE 283 MW gas power plant project in Ivory Coast. You will be the visible HSE leader on site, ensuring high‑risk activities are controlled in real time and that operations meet Aggreko standards, client expectations and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a daily on‑site presence to monitor high‑risk activities such as gas handling, high‑voltage work and lifting operations.
• Verify Permit to Work (PTW) controls before and during execution and stop unsafe work when necessary.
• Provide HSE oversight for ATEX/explosive atmospheres and HV systems.
• Oversee contractor HSE performance, ensuring proper induction, supervision and compliance with Aggreko and client standards.
• Conduct real‑time verification of lifting, electrical and HV tasks, and ensure only competent, authorised personnel perform them.
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and embed learnings on site.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and QHSE inductions for all personnel.
• Perform HSE audits, inspections and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Coordinate inspection, testing and certification of safety‑critical equipment such as lifting gear, fire systems and alarms.
• Support HSE activities during mobilisation, commissioning and demobilisation phases.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience in HSE field assurance within gas‑powered or high‑voltage industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of PTW systems, ATEX regulations and HV safety procedures.
• Ability to enforce compliance, manage contractor interfaces and lead incident investigations.
• Excellent communication skills to deliver safety briefings and training.
