Field Service Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support projects and multi‑year service contracts within our Grid Automation business, serving clients across Sub‑Saharan Africa. The role involves commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting GEV Grid Automation protection, automation and control systems to ensure high asset availability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and inspect site activities in coordination with clients for current, new, and legacy protection, automation and control technologies.
• Commission GEV Grid Automation protection, automation and control systems on‑site at client locations.
• Lead technical meetings, identify client needs, propose solutions and promote them.
• Execute minor renovation or improvement projects and identify development opportunities.
• Coordinate resolution of technical issues on multi‑year service contracts (O&M) and provide remote hotline support.
• Perform maintenance and technical support remotely or on‑site during project execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electro‑technic or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in automation and controls.
• At least 5 years of experience in substation commissioning, focusing on protection and control command, and familiar with commissioning tools.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Willingness to travel up to 70 % of the time.
