Health, Safety & Environment Officer – Ivory Coast

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to join our team on a mining project in Ivory Coast. Reporting to the HSE Manager and Project Manager, you will ensure that all site activities comply with company standards and local regulations while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor site‑specific HSE Management Plans and enforce company HSE policies.
• Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification; ensure control measures are applied.
• Report, record and investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses; lead root‑cause analysis and track corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks and safety training; coach supervisors and workers on safe practices.
• Support emergency preparedness by maintaining equipment, participating in drills and executing the Emergency Response Plan.
• Assist internal and external audits (ISO 45001, ISO 14001), identify non‑conformances and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation and produce daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Participate in HSE meetings, liaise with clients and promote safety as a core value on site.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in an HSE role, preferably on a mine site with exploration drill rigs.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver presentations and training sessions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of risk assessment processes, safe work procedures and incident investigation.
