Legal Counsel (Part‑time, Hybrid)

About the role

Wahoo Music is seeking a part‑time Legal Counsel to join its Abidjan office. The role is hybrid, allowing flexible work from home while collaborating closely with internal teams across music investment, operations, and finance.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate copyright, licensing, distribution and investment agreements with artists, labels and rights holders.
• Provide practical legal advice on intellectual property, media, entertainment and corporate law across multiple African jurisdictions.
• Support due‑diligence processes for catalog acquisitions and ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, assist in dispute resolution and maintain accurate legal documentation.
• Collaborate with investment, operations and finance teams to align legal strategies with business objectives.

Required profile

• Law degree with bar admission or equivalent professional qualification.
• Strong background in intellectual property, entertainment and commercial law, preferably within the music or media sector.
• Proven experience negotiating licensing, distribution and rights‑management contracts.
• Ability to analyze and manage legal issues across several African jurisdictions.
• Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation abilities in a multicultural environment.
