Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Intern

About the role

SD PM is looking for a motivated Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Intern to support its engineering team in the design, coordination, documentation and execution of engineering projects. The internship gives practical exposure to engineering workflows, technical drawings, site activities and multidisciplinary coordination, under the supervision of experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing, reviewing and updating mechanical or electrical drawings and technical documentation, including layouts, specifications, calculations, schedules and material lists.
• Review drawings for inconsistencies and missing information, and help prepare technical submissions, reports and project documentation.
• Support coordination between mechanical, electrical, architectural and structural disciplines, identify drawing discrepancies and clashes, and update drawings after engineers' comments.
• Take part in site visits when authorised, observe installation progress, document site conditions and follow site safety rules.
• Maintain engineering files and revision records, prepare material take-offs and quantity schedules, and report task status to the supervising engineer.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, preferably in the third, fourth or final year, or a recent graduate.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles relevant to the chosen discipline.
• Good command of English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, willingness to learn and work collaboratively.
• Availability to attend the office and/or project sites according to the agreed internship arrangement.

Required skills

• Basic familiarity with AutoCAD
• Knowledge of Revit MEP or other relevant engineering software is an advantage
