Mechanical Site Engineer - Africa

About the role

The Mechanical Site Engineer is responsible for the execution, supervision and installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing and fire protection on site. The role ensures work follows approved drawings, specifications and project schedules while maintaining quality, safety and cost control, and coordinates with stakeholders to support project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems and ensure work follows approved drawings, specifications and method statements
• Monitor daily site activities and coordinate manpower, materials and equipment
• Coordinate with electrical, civil and architectural teams, attend site meetings and liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
• Ensure shop drawings are implemented correctly and resolve site discrepancies
• Check compliance with specifications, standards and local codes, conduct inspections and prepare inspection requests (IRs)
• Assist in testing and commissioning of mechanical systems and coordinate with commissioning teams
• Maintain daily reports, progress reports and work logs, track material usage and prepare as-built drawings
• Ensure compliance with site safety regulations, monitor safe work practices and hold toolbox talks

Required profile

• 5 years of experience in MEP construction or site execution
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in testing and commissioning is a plus

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system installation
• Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications and site practices
