Planning Engineer - Local, Abidjan

About the role

The Planning Engineer plays a central role in developing, managing and optimising project schedules for a range of construction projects. The role calls for advanced technical skills, proactive risk management and the ability to mentor teams so that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Project Manager and stakeholders to define deliverables, break the project into work packages and build a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
• Analyse activity interdependencies, set predecessors and successors, and estimate durations using historical data and expert judgment
• Enter project details into planning tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, and allocate resources while applying resource leveling
• Gather cost information, build cost estimates, consolidate them into the project budget, and run a cost monitoring system with regular reports
• Forecast costs, propose corrective actions and integrate cost data with the schedule to assess project health
• Finalise the plan with an approved baseline, monitor progress against it and update the plan when scope, schedule or resources change
• Implement Earned Value Analysis (EVA) to measure performance and seek cost savings
• Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans, and keep project documentation and version control up to date
• Support project closure, conduct reviews and capture lessons learned

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field; a Master's in Project Management is preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction planning or project engineering, with a track record of managing complex projects
• Experience in both industrial and residential construction is an advantage
• PMP certification is preferred
