Private Sector & Investment Analyst
United Nations Development Programme · Abidjan
Job description
About the role
The Italy-Africa Digital Flagship Programme in Côte d'Ivoire, a partnership between the Government of Côte d'Ivoire, the Government of Italy and UNDP, is in its feasibility phase. It covers climate-resilient agriculture, smart irrigation and an AI and Data Innovation Hub, and aims to engage private sector actors and financing partners. The Private Sector & Investment Analyst leads engagement with the private sector and financing partners so that the feasibility studies become investment-ready opportunities with credible partnership and financing pathways.
Key responsibilities
- Lead private sector engagement and market intelligence: map Ivorian, Italian and international actors (engineering firms, agritech and digital service providers, cloud and data infrastructure providers, startups, financial institutions, industry associations) and run market, sector and partner assessments.
- Hold structured consultations with private sector actors at each stage of the feasibility studies to test market feasibility and scalability.
- Screen and support due diligence on potential partners, covering financial, operational, integrity and ESG dimensions.
- Contribute to financial and economic analysis, including PPP options, revenue and cost-recovery mechanisms and blended finance structures combining grants, concessional and private capital.
- Help prepare investment notes, prospectuses and partner-facing materials, and support calls for expressions of interest and the screening of submissions.
- Engage commercial banks, development finance institutions and impact investors to identify co-financiers.
- Liaise with international and national partners and multilateral financiers (AfDB, EIB, World Bank Group, EU) to find co-financing and joint programming opportunities, and prepare concept notes and funding proposals.
- Monitor results against Programme indicators, prepare briefing notes and presentations for senior management, and document lessons learned.
- Strengthen the capacities of national counterparts on private sector engagement, PPPs and investment structuring.
