Real Sector Statistics Advisor – IMF AFW, Abidjan

About the role

The International Monetary Fund is seeking a Real Sector Statistics Advisor for its Africa Regional Technical Assistance Center West (AFW) based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The advisor will lead capacity‑development activities in national accounts, price indices and other real‑sector statistics across ten West African countries and regional agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage an annual work programme for statistical capacity development in national accounts, price indices and related real‑sector data.
• Coordinate capacity‑development activities with IMF departments, international institutions and bilateral agencies.
• Conduct country missions and deliver regional training on national accounts and price statistics.
• Oversee short‑term expert missions and ensure compliance with IMF standards and STA guidelines.
• Monitor implementation and evaluation of activities through the IMF CDMAP IT portal and contribute to reports for the AFW Steering Committee.

Required profile

• At least ten years of professional experience in national accounts methodology and compilation.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in economics, statistics or a related field.
• Fluent oral and written communication in both French and English.
• Strong relationship‑management, negotiation and influencing abilities with national authorities.
• Proven ability to organise and coordinate technical assistance and training programmes.
