Rotating Equipment and Conveyance Specialist

About the role

The Rotating Equipment and Conveyance Specialist maintains the mechanical rotating and conveyance equipment of a Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) gold processing plant and ReCYN operations, focusing on plant availability, reduced downtime and improved reliability. The role also develops the technical capability of the local workforce through structured skills transfer and upskilling, providing technical leadership across crushing, milling, conveying, pumping, cyanide recovery and gold recovery circuits.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise mechanical maintenance; run preventative, predictive and condition-based maintenance programs; lead troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis
• Manage shutdown planning and execution, monitor maintenance KPIs, and use CMMS systems for planning and reporting
• Maintain crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps and CIL/gold recovery equipment, including liner wear analysis, pump performance assessments and rebuild programs
• Develop RCM-aligned maintenance strategies, investigate failures and manage critical spare parts inventory
• Promote safety, conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses, and take part in incident investigations
• Train and mentor local maintenance personnel, create competency-based development plans, deliver classroom, workshop and field training, and support succession planning
• Document procedures, write maintenance manuals and transfer technical knowledge to local teams

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering diploma or tertiary qualifications preferred; relevant trade qualifications and experience
• 5 to 10 years of progressive maintenance or project engineering experience in heavy industry (mining and processing)
• Experience managing shutdowns and maintenance teams, and a proven record in workforce development and localization
• Previous experience in West Africa or similar remote/developing regions strongly preferred
• Reliability or maintenance certifications and a valid driver's license

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of CMMS/EAM and project management methodologies
• High emotional intelligence, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and ability to lead cross-cultural teams in remote locations
