Senior Advisor, Field Operations & Surge Management

About the role

Working under the Program Director, the Senior Advisor provides operational leadership, technical assistance and implementation support across FHI 360 health programs in Francophone Africa, with a focus on complex integrated health initiatives and outbreak response. The position is remote with regular travel throughout Africa, especially the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Key responsibilities

• Lead field operations and surge management for health projects covering HIV, MCH, nutrition, malaria, polio and global health security.
• Develop, tailor and implement SOPs, safeguarding, security and occupational health & safety protocols.
• Act as head of office during deployments, overseeing day‑to‑day operational activities.
• Manage staffing, recruitment, consultant contracts and onboarding processes.
• Prepare donor documentation, reports, presentations and brief senior leadership on operational strategies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (health, development, social sciences, etc.).
• 12 + years of experience in designing and managing global health programs, including USG‑funded projects.
• Fluency in English and French.
• Prior experience working in NGOs, government agencies or private organizations, preferably in conflict‑affected areas such as eastern DRC.
