Senior Drilling & Well Engineer

About the role

Manup is looking for a Senior Drilling & Well Engineer to lead technical assurance and execution oversight for an offshore shallow‑water jack‑up drilling programme with a West African National Oil Company. This high‑visibility consultancy will bridge well design and rig‑side performance from pre‑execution through to drilling completion.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent technical reviews of well design deliverables and identify gaps, assumptions and risks.
• Develop and quality‑check the Executable Drilling & Completion Programme, working procedures and AFE validation.
• Facilitate Well Design Challenge, Peer Review and Drilling‑Well‑on‑Paper workshops.
• Verify rig sizing against well requirements and maintain the Well Risk Register.
• Provide on‑shore senior technical oversight during drilling, supporting the wellsite Company Man and Wells Manager.
• Act as first escalation point for Level 2 technical events, monitor performance, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare technical inputs for gate reviews, daily reporting and post‑well lessons learned.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas well engineering and drilling operations.
• Proven track record in well design, programming, AFE preparation and drilling execution supervision.
• Experience with shallow‑water jack‑up operations in West Africa is strongly preferred.
