Underground Planning Engineer – Yaouré Gold Mine

About the role

The Underground Planning Engineer will support the Underground Senior Mine Engineer in delivering safe, efficient and cost‑effective underground mine plans for the Yaouré Gold Mine in Côte d’Ivoire. Working on the country’s first fully mechanised underground operation, you will shape planning processes, drive performance and help meet development and production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and optimise underground mine designs and schedules using sound engineering principles.
• Identify, communicate and manage constraints, bottlenecks and critical path activities to maximise project value.
• Provide technical support for mine planning, ground control, ventilation, cost control, process development and procurement.
• Develop and maintain monthly and three‑month underground mine schedules.
• Drive best‑practice mine planning standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support safe underground operations through risk management, safety leadership and incident investigations.
• Assist with contractor engagement and foster collaboration between Perseus and underground mining partners.
• Mentor and develop national mining engineering personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Minimum 4 years experience in underground hard‑rock mining operations.
• Experience in underground mine planning, design, quality assurance and contractor management.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving capability in underground environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Deswik.
• Working knowledge of Ventsim and Pumpsim.
• Experience with longhole open stoping operations.
• Familiarity with Pronto or similar mining business systems (beneficial).
