Country Director – Ivory Coast & Guinea

About the role

CARE is seeking an experienced Country Director to lead its operations in Ivory Coast and Guinea. Based in Abidjan, you will be the senior representative responsible for shaping strategy, driving impact, and ensuring alignment with CARE’s global mission to save lives, combat poverty, and promote social justice, especially for women and girls.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the Country Office.
• Develop and implement programs that deliver measurable results in health, education, livelihoods, and gender equity.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government, donors, civil society, and the private sector.
• Lead a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and resilience.
• Oversee financial management, compliance, and reporting in line with CARE standards.
• Represent CARE in public forums, advocacy efforts, and stakeholder negotiations.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in West Africa.
• Strong understanding of the socio‑political environment in Ivory Coast and Guinea.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs and multi‑stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent communication skills in French and English.
