Youth & Adolescent Development Officer – Fixed Term (Abidjan)

About the role

The Youth & Adolescent Development Officer will support UNICEF’s adolescent development programme in Côte d’Ivoire, contributing to research, technical analysis and advocacy that promote the participation, safety and well‑being of young people. Based in Abidjan, the officer works under the Chief of Section or Specialist to strengthen programme planning and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and provide technical analysis to inform adolescent development policies and programmes.
• Support the design, planning and formulation of participation initiatives for adolescents.
• Assist in advocacy efforts to promote adolescents’ rights to a safe environment and access to health, education and protection services.
• Collaborate with UNICEF country office teams and partners to ensure programme alignment with UNICEF’s equity strategy.
• Monitor and report on programme outcomes, contributing to evidence‑based decision‑making.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in social sciences, public health, education, or a related field.
• Experience working on youth or adolescent programmes, preferably in an international development context.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with ability to produce policy‑relevant research.
• Demonstrated commitment to UNICEF’s mission and to the rights of children and adolescents.
