Associate Director, Hub Accounting

About the role

FHI 360 is looking for an Associate Director, Hub Accounting in Abidjan. The role manages, across a regional Hub, the development, implementation and maintenance of one or more accounting systems and core accounting processes (journal entries, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue reconciliation and cash flows) in line with GAAP policies and procedures. It reports to the Senior Director, Financial and Operational Support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership to Hub accounting staff and coordinate with country teams across the Hub
• Assign and review the work of country office accounting teams, monitor and improve the monthly close process, and act as Hub point of contact for audit requests
• Ensure country office accounting practices are adequate, documented and compliant, and that financial documentation is filed and ready
• Coordinate with Corporate Accounting so trial balances are updated for local statutory audits, and facilitate timely month-end close and closeout reconciliation
• Train staff on accounting systems and processes, mentor them, and identify improvement opportunities
• Work with internal and external auditors and consultants, and collaborate with Corporate Accounting and other finance stakeholders
• Select, develop and evaluate personnel, motivate and manage the team, and exercise judgment within established accounting policies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or international equivalent
• At least 8 years of related work experience, including 3 years in line management and 3 years at corporate or organizational level
• Past experience managing a financial accounting department is required
• Fluent English (read, write and speak)
• Preferred: professional accounting certification (CPA/ACCA or equivalent); NGO and international organization experience

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of GAAP practices and reporting guidelines
• Experience with automated financial reporting and government accounting practices, including CAS and FAR systems
• Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting internal accounting and management controls
• Supervisory, leadership and managerial skills, with strong communication and negotiation abilities

The expected annual basic salary is XOF 29,000,000 to 40,000,000. Travel is less than 10%, and the work takes place in a typical office environment using a computer and standard office equipment.
