Compensation & Benefits Expert – Africa Region

About the role

The Regional Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Expert will join the Human Resources Department of the Africa Regional Office. Based in Abidjan, you will coordinate, harmonise and implement the Group’s C&B policy across the African region, acting as a strategic advisor to operational teams and supporting the Shipping Division’s C&B reporting and analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure external competitiveness and internal equity of compensation structures through market analysis and monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with the Regional HR Director to align C&B priorities with the regional HR strategy.
• Advise on adjustments to salaries, allocations and benefits to meet regional and divisional needs.
• Manage renewal of health and provident insurance contracts across the region.
• Contribute to budget preparation and support the Group’s salary review process.
• Provide C&B guidance to stakeholders, ensuring local practices align with Group strategy and identifying risks.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits within a large international group or consultancy.
• Strong financial and general HR knowledge.
• Advanced reporting skills and high proficiency in MS Excel.
• Experience with job evaluation and grading methodologies (e.g., WTW, Mercer, Korn Ferry) is preferred.
• Rigorous, methodical, highly organised with strong interpersonal and diplomatic abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English and French.
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Finance or Business is ideal.
