Compliance & Internal Control Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Compliance & Internal Control Specialist to join CIMPOR Cote d’Ivoire. The role will support the Group Director of Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance and the Global Compliance Coordinator in implementing and maintaining world‑class compliance standards and internal control frameworks across the company’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in building, implementing, and monitoring the organization’s Risk‑Control Matrix.
• Support the local rollout of the CIMPOR Compliance Program in line with global standards and Côte d’Ivoire regulations.
• Oversee mandatory compliance tasks such as training programs, third‑party screening, and declarations.
• Coordinate compliance communication initiatives across the local entity.
• Monitor regulatory changes to keep internal policies aligned with laws and ethical guidelines.
• Conduct risk assessments related to AML/CTF, sanctions, corruption, and KYC for new and existing businesses or clients.
• Collaborate with internal/external auditors and regulatory authorities during inspections or reviews.
• Perform compliance assessments and propose improvements where needed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation and company policies.
• Execute internal control activities and report deficiencies to the Cimpor Africa Internal Control Senior Specialist and the Group Director.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls.
• Conduct or propose local internal investigations when necessary.
• Follow up on findings and action plans from audit and compliance reviews.
• Assist in preparing reports and presentations for senior leadership.
• Support implementation of Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity frameworks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Experience in compliance, internal audit, internal control or risk management.
• Strong understanding of Côte d’Ivoire regulatory requirements and international compliance frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of internal control frameworks and controls.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Preferable knowledge of SAP.
