Director – Device Financing & Partnership

About the role

Yabx, a global FinTech venture of Mahindra Comviva, is seeking a Director to own and drive end‑to‑end device financing programs across Sub‑Saharan Africa. The role combines commercial ownership, program execution, partnership management, portfolio performance, and market expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day operations and performance of live device financing programs across multiple markets.
• Manage strategic relationships with telecom operators, banks/NBFCs, OEMs, distributors, retailers and other ecosystem partners.
• Drive device sales growth, customer conversion, channel productivity, approvals, disbursements, activations and repayments.
• Develop and optimise commercial levers such as pricing, tenure, down‑payments, commissions and bundled offers.
• Identify and expand partnerships into new device categories, customer segments, channels and geographies.
• Monitor portfolio performance (repayments, PAR, losses) and collaborate with risk teams to optimise credit policies.
• Build business cases, commercial structures, unit economics and portfolio projections for new opportunities.
• Lead partnership negotiations, agreement closure, onboarding, integration and program go‑live.
• Coordinate across telcos, lenders, OEMs, distributors, credit bureaus, payment providers, regulators and internal teams.

Required profile

• 8–12 years of experience in FinTech, digital lending, telecom, device financing or distribution‑led businesses.
• Proven track record managing partnerships with telcos, financial institutions, OEMs and distribution networks in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Demonstrated end‑to‑end business ownership across commercial, operational and partnership functions.
• Strong understanding of the lending lifecycle, credit risk, collections and portfolio management.
• Techno‑commercial acumen with experience in business case development and deal structuring.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship‑building capabilities in complex, multi‑party environments.
