Ivory Coast Marine Surveyor

About the role

RINA, a global classification society, is recruiting a Marine Surveyor for its office in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division. The surveyor ensures that ships and marine assets meet international and classification society standards, safeguarding their safety, compliance and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure strict adherence to classification society rules, international regulations and statutory requirements during surveys and inspections, applying new regulations as they arise.
• Advise clients, shipowners and manufacturers on classification, design, construction and maintenance, and keep up with industry technology and innovations.
• Solve technical problems encountered during surveys or client interactions and implement quality assurance in survey processes.
• Educate clients on classification processes and rules, and use standardized templates and digital tools for consistent, timely inspection reports.
• Collaborate with colleagues internally and externally, take part in team meetings and pursue continuous professional development and certifications.
• Perform new building surveys, ship-in-service surveys, marine management system audits, and testing and certification of suppliers and manufacturers.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Naval Engineering.
• At least 3 years as a Junior Surveyor, or 5 years in engineering or survey fields within the marine industry or another related field.
• Proficiency in English suitable for classification, statutory certification and related services.
• Ability to learn RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations and the employee safety policy, and to read engineering plans and shipbuilding practices.
• Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery, and of software or computer programs used in the job.
