Mine Director

About the role

The Mine Director will lead the open‑pit mining operation in Côte d’Ivoire, overseeing the full value chain from ore extraction to stockpiling and export. Reporting to the General Manager, the role is responsible for safe, efficient and cost‑effective delivery of nickel ore while building high‑performing national teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for all open‑pit mining activities, including grade control, load & haul, and ore delivery.
• Ensure mining operations follow short‑, medium‑ and long‑term mine plans and Life‑of‑Mine objectives.
• Drive production performance while maintaining a zero‑accident safety culture.
• Oversee stockpiling and blending to meet required chemical and physical specifications for export.
• Develop, manage and optimise annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets for the mining department.
• Implement cost‑optimisation, productivity improvements and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical oversight for mine planning, block modelling and pit optimisation.
• Manage contractors and subcontractors to meet operational, safety and corporate standards.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in open‑pit mining operations.
• Proven track record of delivering safe, cost‑effective production at scale.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Ability to lead and develop national teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Experience coordinating geology, engineering, operations and equipment maintenance functions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mine planning and optimisation software such as Datamine.
• Technical expertise in grade control, load & haul, stockpile management and ore blending.
