Principal Architect

About the role

The Principal Architect leads architectural design activities and oversees the development and delivery of architectural projects, ensuring that design outputs meet client requirements, building regulations, technical standards, quality expectations and project objectives. The role provides strategic and technical leadership across the full design lifecycle, from concept and feasibility studies through detailed design, multidisciplinary coordination, tender documentation and construction-stage support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural design for residential, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, industrial and mixed-use projects, directing conceptual, schematic, detailed and construction-stage designs
• Review architectural drawings, plans, elevations, sections, façade details, schedules and specifications, and ensure compliance with building codes, planning regulations, accessibility and fire and life-safety provisions
• Coordinate with structural, MEP and other engineering disciplines, resolve clashes and support BIM-based coordination where applicable
• Take part in client meetings, present design options and manage design comments, revisions and approvals
• Align architectural deliverables with the project schedule, milestones and budgets, and assess the impact of design changes
• Lead, mentor and develop architects and junior architects, set expectations and contribute to performance evaluations and succession planning
• Set up design review and quality assurance procedures, support design audits and promote sustainable design
• Work with project managers, cost consultants and quantity surveyors on value engineering and cost optimization
