About the role

Phénicia conseil is recruiting a Sales Manager for a leading international plastics group. The role is based in Abidjan and drives the commercial growth of polymer sales across Côte d'Ivoire and the wider ECOWAS region.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the annual sales plan in line with the General Manager’s commercial strategy and volume/margin targets.
  • Identify, qualify and acquire new customers such as plastic converters, packaging manufacturers, pipe and fitting producers, cable and wire companies, and construction‑sector buyers.
  • Manage and expand the existing customer portfolio, ensuring high retention and increased wallet share.
  • Lead price negotiations, set customer pricing grids and balance spot versus contract sales.
  • Grow export business to Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea, Senegal and other land‑locked ECOWAS markets.
  • Conduct regular field visits, factory calls and gather market intelligence across the region.
  • Prepare and present sales forecasts, pipeline reviews and market reports to the General Manager.

Required profile

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience in polymer distribution, petrochemical trading or plastics raw materials.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding volume and margin targets.
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

  • Technical knowledge of thermoplastic resins and their industrial end‑uses.
  • Solid understanding of trade finance instruments.
  • Experience with credit risk management practices.
