Sales Manager – Plastics Industry (Côte d’Ivoire)

About the role
Phénicia conseil is recruiting a Sales Manager for a leading international plastics group. The role is based in Abidjan and drives the commercial growth of polymer sales across Côte d'Ivoire and the wider ECOWAS region.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the annual sales plan in line with the General Manager’s commercial strategy and volume/margin targets.
- Identify, qualify and acquire new customers such as plastic converters, packaging manufacturers, pipe and fitting producers, cable and wire companies, and construction‑sector buyers.
- Manage and expand the existing customer portfolio, ensuring high retention and increased wallet share.
- Lead price negotiations, set customer pricing grids and balance spot versus contract sales.
- Grow export business to Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea, Senegal and other land‑locked ECOWAS markets.
- Conduct regular field visits, factory calls and gather market intelligence across the region.
- Prepare and present sales forecasts, pipeline reviews and market reports to the General Manager.
Required profile
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience in polymer distribution, petrochemical trading or plastics raw materials.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding volume and margin targets.
- Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
Required skills
- Technical knowledge of thermoplastic resins and their industrial end‑uses.
- Solid understanding of trade finance instruments.
- Experience with credit risk management practices.
