Adolescent & HIV/AIDS Specialist – Fixed Term (Abidjan)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Adolescent & HIV/AIDS Specialist to provide technical, administrative and operational support for adolescent development and HIV/AIDS programmes in Côte d'Ivoire. The specialist will work closely with the Chief Youth and Adolescents Development and country‑office teams to ensure that child rights and adolescent participation are integrated into UNICEF’s advocacy, programme and humanitarian activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and support to country‑office staff and partners on adolescent health and HIV/AIDS interventions.
• Coordinate the design, implementation and monitoring of programmes that promote adolescent participation and protect child rights.
• Develop and contribute to advocacy strategies, policy briefs and communication materials aligned with UNICEF’s equity agenda.
• Ensure integration of international treaties, conventions and UN frameworks into programme planning and delivery.
• Prepare reports, data analyses and recommendations for senior management and donors.
• Support resource mobilisation and partnership building with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, medicine, social sciences or a related field.
• Significant experience working on adolescent health, HIV/AIDS or related programmes in low‑resource settings.
• Strong knowledge of UNICEF policies, child rights conventions and international development frameworks.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multilingual environment.
• Fluency in English; French proficiency is an asset.
