Agricultural Economist

About the role

The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is seeking an Agricultural Economist to join its five‑year seed sector program in Côte d'Ivoire. The role will support the creation of an inclusive, competitive vegetable and potato seed market that delivers affordable, high‑quality seeds to smallholder farmers.

Key responsibilities

• Implement program activities in coordination with international partners, focusing on seed market development, sector governance, and regulation.
• Lead data collection from farmers and seed actors, including demand and variety adoption surveys.
• Gather and analyse market intelligence on varietal preferences, market segments, seed supplies and trade.
• Collect and analyse baseline and end‑line data to assess program impact.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities and produce regular country‑specific MEL reports.
• Prepare technical reports, policy briefs and communication materials for partners and policymakers.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure program success.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, research or data management for development programmes.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing data collection tools and surveys.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret market and impact data.
• Excellent written communication skills for report and policy brief preparation.
