Area Sales Manager

About the role

The Zumtobel Group, a global leader in innovative lighting solutions, is looking for an Area Sales Manager to lead its commercial activities in West Africa. Based in Abidjan, you will be responsible for expanding the company’s presence across Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo while building long‑term relationships with key industry players.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a network of specifiers, municipalities, lighting designers, architects, contractors and distributors in the assigned territories.
• Identify new market opportunities, monitor competition and translate insights into actionable sales strategies.
• Manage the full sales cycle—from project preparation and negotiation to contract closure—ensuring profit and sales targets are met.
• Maintain a robust pipeline of projects and regularly report progress to senior management.
• Travel extensively across Africa, the Middle East and Europe to meet clients and support project execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering discipline.
• Proven B2B sales experience, especially in lighting or related technical sectors.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills with a record of long‑term partnerships.
• Fluent in French and English, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Highly proactive, self‑reliant and able to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP.
• Experience using Salesforce.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office suite.
