Chef d'atelier production maroquinerie & formateur

About the role

ATELIER BLAYO, a high‑end leather‑goods manufacturer based in Abidjan, is expanding and seeks a seasoned Workshop Manager and Trainer to lead its leather production atelier. The role combines technical oversight, process optimisation and hands‑on training of staff and apprentices.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement technical and operational structures for the workshop.
• Introduce and standardise manufacturing methods for luxury leather products.
• Guide technical teams, ensuring quality control and continuous process improvement.
• Develop prototypes and small‑batch series in collaboration with designers.
• Design and deliver training programmes on leather‑assembly techniques.
• Supervise apprentices and coordinate pedagogical curricula for leather and maroquinerie courses.
• Participate in new‑product development projects and long‑term innovation initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience in luxury leather‑goods production.
• Proven ability to blend craftsmanship, workshop organisation and teaching.
• Direct reporting to senior management and the founder of the atelier.
• Fluent French (written and spoken); additional language (English or Spanish) is a plus.

Required skills

• Operation of all types of leather sewing machines and specialised tooling.
• Prototype development and product‑range assembly.
• Interpretation of technical drawings and design specifications.
• Quality control and optimisation of production processes.
• Production planning and deadline management for demanding clients.
