Country Representative – Côte d’Ivoire

About the role

WorldFish is seeking a Country Representative to lead its strategic research and operational activities in Côte d’Ivoire. The role combines high‑level advocacy, partnership development, and management of a research‑for‑development portfolio to advance the organization’s mission of improving aquatic food systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the country’s strategic research agenda in line with WorldFish’s global strategy and national development priorities.
• Act as the organization’s spokesperson to government ministries, national partners, donors, and civil society, promoting the research agenda and influencing policy.
• Provide senior management with advice on opportunities, risks, and trends related to research and program implementation.
• Lead the execution of a research‑for‑development portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and delivering high‑quality scientific outputs.
• Identify funding opportunities, develop project proposals, and support fundraising activities in Côte d’Ivoire.
• Design and oversee innovative research projects that generate peer‑reviewed publications and measurable development impacts.
• Build and maintain working relationships with policymakers to support the development and implementation of relevant government policies and budgets.
• Manage in‑country staff, fostering a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive environment, overseeing performance reviews and professional development.
• Oversee office operations, risk management, financial reporting, and quality assurance for the research portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading research or development programs at a national level.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and negotiate with senior government officials and national partners.
• Experience in securing funding and developing project proposals.
• Strong managerial experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
