Deputy Head, Public Policy – Sub‑Saharan Africa

About the role

Yango is seeking a Deputy Head of Public Policy to lead its policy agenda across French‑speaking Sub‑Saharan Africa. The role combines strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and cross‑functional leadership to shape a regulatory environment that supports the company’s growth in digital mobility and logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a region‑wide public policy strategy aligned with business priorities.
• Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor political, regulatory, and legislative trends; provide concise analysis and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with Legal, PR, Operations, and Marketing to integrate government‑relations efforts into overall strategy.
• Represent Yango in government engagements, industry forums, and multi‑stakeholder coalitions.
• Prepare stakeholder briefings and regular regulatory updates.
• Lead government engagement during regulatory incidents or policy crises.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, International Relations or related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in government relations, public policy or regulatory affairs.
• Full professional fluency in French and English.
• Direct experience living and working in West or Central Africa.
• Strong analytical ability and excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically across the region.
